Canine Normal Values:
19-133 mg/dL
Feline Normal Values:
24-206 mg/dL
Significance:
Used in the assessment of a lipemia
Increases in Values:
May help support the diagnosis of familial hypertriglyceridemia in fasted patients. Miniature schnauzers and some felines are observed to have this condition. Lipemia can be observed when triglyceride levels are above 500 mg/dL. Elevations are normal during the postprandial state
Decreases in Values:
Decreased values are usually not significant
