Gastric Dilatation Volvulus

Patient: Adult Male Canine
Presentation: Non-productive retching, distended abdomen, restlessness, lethargy, panting, hypersalivation, tachycardia, tachypnea, painful/tense abdomen, hypertension
Diagnostics: Tympanic abdomen, AFAST, right lateral abdominal radiograph, bloodwork (elevated lactate)
Diagnosis: Gastric Dilatation Volvulus (GDV)
Treatment Included: Trocarisation of the stomach, intravenous fluid therapy, pain management, orogastric intubation, immediate surgery
Remember: Attempt to place two large bore IVC in the cephalic veins
