Canine Normal Values:
0.5-1.6 mg/dL
Feline Normal Values:
0.5-2.3 mg/dL
Significance:
Used in the assessment of glomerular filtration by the kidneys
Increases in Values:
May help support the diagnosis of renal insufficiency due to shock, dehydration, congestive heart failure, etc. Increases in values are also seen with urinary tract obstructions or skeletal muscle destruction
Decreases in Values:
Decreased values are not clinically significant
